M.O.B.xSheHoopsElite: SHE Camp

This was a day to remember. The First Annual MOBxSheHoopsElite "SHE Camp"

This event has everything to do with my mission and what I plan to use M.O.B. Athletics for when it comes to girls basketball. The event was free for female players to come out and learn the game of basketball. Another platform for me to begin to reach the young girls within South Florida who have a passion for the game but no place to learn and play.

When I was in High School between 2004-2008, girls basketball was much bigger than it is now. We had about 30 girls come out to the event, and I was able to see some of the hidden gems that are right in our own back yard. This is the reason I begin to create these camps, and with collaboration of a local non-profit organization who promotes women's basketball (She Hoops Elite), we were able to reach some of those girls.

This will be an annual event we hold for the girls here. Not every player is able to afford the training or camps that are held, so we did this event for those girls within the community. And I am sure glad we did. The feedback from parents and players was astounding. Being able to create an atmosphere of learning and fun is what I strive for, and with the help of other great women athletes, I was able to do just that.

The players learned, competed and had a great time. This is what I look to do for young female basketball players within South Florida. Create a place they can learn and ask questions to get more insight on how they can be successful. Their success is a part of my mission and purpose. It's why I do it. When they are successful, then I am successful. And that's not just in sports.

Sports are just a tool that can teach each individual life lessons and help them build characteristics that they can carry with them and apply in other areas of their lives. Basketball has taught me so much about myself. It helped me to learn who I am, how I respond in certain situations, how to be a leader, how to be coachable and take directions, and so much more. It has helped me travel the world and go places I never imagine, building relationships with people in other countries that I will have for a lifetime. And that's just the tip of the iceberg.

Now I'm able to use basketball as a vehicle to reach the young players of today, to inspire and uplift them to be their greatest selves on purpose. This is event is just one of many that enables me to do just that. I look forward to continuing to build and grow so that I can reach players across the nation.
