I am so very grateful to be able to experience another great event held by Celebrity Sports Academy. This year I was able to attend and be a part of the Jimmy Butler Camp. The energy in the building was great, the kids were great, and Mr. Jimmy Butler himself definitely came through!
Usually, I volunteer as a coach with an individual age group, but this time I decided to accept the challenge of referee for the championship game day. Even Dwayne Wade Sr. was present, and not even knowing who he was, he stepped up to the baseline and spoke to me. He asked if I had experience referring, and I said, "No, I've just played all the way up to the professional level so I know a little something." He goes, "okay okay, because I was saying to myself she's not that bad." It wasn't until we held the Jimmy Butler challenger at the end of the day, that I then found out who I was speaking with. lol
The entire camp was a complete success, and during the Jimmy Butler challenge, some campers and fans got to play 1on1 with Jimmy, and he definitely did not disappoint! All games went to 2, and Jimmy being kind enough not to crush the competition right away, he made it an interesting game. But needless to say, all the matchups ended with Mr. Buckets coming out on top, and even ended with a few dunks for pizzazz! Haha
I was fortunate enough to grab a picture with JB himself at the end. Even after a long day of taking pictures and doing interviews, he still allowed me to grab one more just before his workout. I was even fortunate to catch a bit of JB's workout, as he got up shots with his team. This was by far, possibly, my favorite Celebrity Sports Academy camp. And even got to leave with an exclusive pair of Jimmy's Li-ning shoes!! What better way to end summer and bring in the new school year 😄
